Lakes Of Belarus:

Suya lake is located on the territory of the Polotsk district of Vitebsk region and belongs to the basin of the river Turovlyanka which is a left tributary of the river Western Dvina. The area of the lake is 1.54 km2 with a length of 2.75 km and a maximum width of 0.82 km. The maximum depth of the pond is 3,6 ì. Lake is connected with the lake Turovlya in the north-east and with the lake Gomel with Turovlyanka river. In the north, through a system of drainage canals it is connected with lakes Mokhovoe and Ponikloye. Beaches of the lake Suya are sandy, low. In the area of the pond terrain is flat, sometimes hilly, overgrownesd with forest and shrubs, there are wetlands. The surrounding forests are rich in mushrooms and berries. Fishing on the lake is free, but underwater hunting and fishing on the track rea banned. Sailing on the gasoline transport is permitted. Commercial fishing is not carried out. In the pond such species as bream, perch, tench, roach, pike and carp are found. Near the pond lake Yanovo is situated, on the banks of which recreation center with the same name is located.
