Selyava lake

Lake Selyava is located in Krupki district Minsk region, 20 km north of Krupki on the territory of the landscape reserve and belongs to the basin of the river Western Dvina. This is one of the largest water bodies (lakeside reservoir) in the north-east of Belarus.

The area of a water-mirror of the lake is 15 km ². In the center are three islands, the largest of which has an area of about 2 km ². Into the lake flows the river Vysokaya and Rakitovka, as well as streams and drainage channels. The basin of the lake has a curved shape and is elongated from north to south for 14.4 km. Maximum width is in the northern and central parts of the pond and reaches 2.5 km and an average width of about 1 km. Maximum depth is 19 meters of the lake. In the central part Selyava divided into two stretches: northern shallow with a depth of 11.3 m and south,which is deeper.
The water of the lake is clean and transparent more than 2 m in the summer. The shores are greatly cut up, most of them are plowed, forests account for 26% and only 5% are swamps. The coastal shallows overgrown with reed, bulrush and flagroot.

Picturesque lake Selyava has become a favorite place for excellent fishing. Unspoilt nature, pristine quiet, clean water and good biting attract fishing enthusiasts from around the country. Features of the coast and the presence of numerous piers and bridges, set especially for beginners and intermediates, allow to retire with a fishing rod. Besides, the lake is quite rich in fish. Fish fauna of the lake is represented by 16 species of fish: pike, bream, roach, bream, rudd, ide, tench, crucian carp, bleak, gudgeon, catfish, perch, ruff, whitefish, burbot, studding.
Relax after a successful fishing or just to stay on holiday with family or friends you can at various equipped areas for camping, farmsteads and guest houses, which are located on the shores of the lake.
