Canada goose
Canada goose (branta canadensis). Canada goose occupies practically all tundra of Northern America, and also the south of tundra up to northern borders of California, Nevada, Utah, South Dakota and Indiana. In the past (prior to the beginning of XX century) it nested also on Kuril and Commander islands, where it has been completely exterminated. Canada goose has been also successfully moved to the Great Britain, Northwest Europe and New Zealand. Recently it started to nest in Netherlands, Belgium, France, Denmark, Ireland, Estonia and Latvia. Canada geese live on coast of the rivers, water basins, bogs, on flooded lowlands. Canada goose is a favorite object of hunting in Northern America - owing to its sizes and taste of meat. Annually during the hunting season in the USA and Canada about 400 000 representatives of this kind are killed. For Belarus it is very rare stray kind noted on winterings.
