Cormorant

Cormorant (phalacrocorax carbo). It lives in Europe, Asia, Africa, in northeast Canada, in Australia and New Zealand. In Belarus it nests from the end of 80th years of the last century; high growth of its number, mainly in a southern part of the country is noted. The area of dwelling of cormorants began to extend promptly from the southwest on the northeast, for ten years they were settled on all territory of Belarus. The active reproduction of cormorants for the last few years is caused by economic activities of the person: fishing households have appeared, a good forage reserve for birds. Now it locally meets on all territory of republic on the coast of lakes, near the fish ponds. Cormorant prefers old forest stands near reservoirs, islands, overgrown with wood vegetation.
