Lake Yanovo is located in Polotsk district of Vitebsk region on the border with Ushachi district. Yanovo is located 23 km south of Polotsk and 3 km from Lake Gomel. The lake is a part of a group Ushachi lakes and belongs to the basin Diva river, which flows into the lake. From Yanovo follows the river Turzhets, which connects it with lake Zaschaty.

The area of the lake is 7.7 km ², its length - 6.5 km, maximum width - 2.2 km. The coastline is 25 km long forms two bays - Severny and Yuzhny Rog. More than 13 meter depth of the lake combined with shoals and bays. The basin of the lake dammed Yanovo type, stretched from north-west to south-east. There are slopes of the basin to 12 meters high.
The shores of the lake Yanovo sand up to 1 m in the east and low in some places covered with boulders. The bottom of the lake is mainly covered with sapropel, at some places the bottom is sandy, overgrown with reeds. On the blue surface of the lake are clearly distinguished two islands covered with vegetation.

Lake Yanovo is especially attractive for lovers of fishing. Especially for fishermen here is organized recreational fishing for extra pay. The lake is home to pike, roach, bream, perch, ide, tench, rudd, perch occurs, catfish and crayfish.
